An experiential course in percussion, improvisation and dance, set in a natural environment, for teachers, artists and curious minds.
SYNOPSIS
Three days of immersion in rhythm and movement, in connection with nature.
An international course where the body is the starting point for music, creation and pedagogy.
A lived, artistic and human experience to grow as a teacher, creator and person.
The Summer Course is PerkImBa’s intensive training programme and our annual international gathering.
What is PerkImBa?
PerkImBa can be understood through its play with words, body and sound:
PERK – Percussion · Rhythm that is heard, walked and shared
IM – Improvisation · Imagination · Creative impulse
BA – Dance · Grounded in the body
An universe where percussion becomes movement, improvisation becomes creation, and dance becomes a way of thinking and learning with the whole body.
PerkImBa is both a language and a methodology.

No specific prior technique is required: the diversity of backgrounds is one of the strengths of the course.
PROGRAMME – in 3 lines
Day 1 — Earth rhythms with floor drums. Workshops 1 & 2. Evening jam session
Day 2 — Latin rhythms with sticks. Creation. Workshops 3 & 4. Evening with the PerkImBa House Band
Day 3 — PerkImBa repertoire. Final JAM

DAY 1. Rhythms of the earth
Rhythm, movement and nature merge.
We meet again in a magical space to experience rhythm and creativity.
Rhythmic repertoire with drums on the floor.
Get ready to make the drums sound with your hands and awaken your body.

DAY 2. Latin rhythms
Vertical drums, we take drumsticks. We will move and dance.
We will share the essentials of the Latin rhythmic repertoire.
With these rhythms we can combine a lot of possibilities.
We will also enjoy making CREATIONS outdoors.

DAY 3. PerkImBa Repertoire + JAM
You will discover the rhythmic repertoire with our URBAN DRUMS.
It's been many years creating rhythmic and scenic repertoire at PerkImBa.
We will end with a staging of the repertoire in a JAM in the pergola that will surely be unforgettable.

WORKSHOPS. Creation and Pedagogy
In the afternoons you will have 2 options to choose from
Workshop 1 and 3. Music PEDAGOGY. "Creativity in musical education"
Workshop 2 and 4. CREATION processes in rhythm and movement.
We will end the afternoon with a collective proposal in the PERGOLA.

How do we stay?
The La Plana Foundation welcomes us in its Masia, cared for down to the last detail.

We will enjoy an extraordinary, homemade meal made with great care, where you can choose between a Mediterranean or vegetarian diet.

The rooms are shared but all have a view of the countryside and are quiet.

The outdoor spaces are divine, including the Labyrinth of Silence.

A dream gazebo for our Performances.

Necessary equipment
Bedding: Sheets, pillowcase.
Bath towels (there is a swimming pool)
Biodegradable soap.
La Plana makes an exception with the bedding set exclusively for participants who come by plane or train.
NOTE from the La Plana FOUNDATION
We continue with the same care for water.
We have set up a Natural treatment plant, which allows us to reuse the wastewater from the house.
Use biodegradable soaps without chemicals, so we can reuse the water for watering.

Conditions for Cancellation
If you cannot attend the course, the registration will be paid if you notify us 15 days before the start of the course. Notifications are exclusively for mail. The commission to cover the return costs will be €20 in Spain and €45 abroad.
